To provide efficient and effective mentorship and guidance to young women and men to allow

them to achieve success by rising above all challenges.

Young Women/Men of Purpose (YWOP/YMOP)

Young Women/Men of Purpose (YWOP/YMOP) is an award-winning Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which was founded by Lanisia Rhoden as her Community Service Project when she won the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), Miss Manchester Festival Queen Competition in 2009. The organization provides career mentorship and guidance, personal development training, entrepreneurship training and support to young women and men between the ages 13 and 32 years in Jamaica. 

The organization has designed and implemented high impact projects, which have been funded by international funding agencies, such as the UN-HABITAT Urban Youth Fund, Commonwealth Youth Council, Cuso International and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) and has impacted over 7000 students through the school outreach programme. The organization has developed a social enterprise, Link Your Purpose, an online career development platform, to expand its work and contribute to the organization’s sustainability.

Objectives

As a youth centered organization our focus are as follows:

1 To provide effective and efficient mentorship and guidance to youths who face challenges in their daily lives.

2 To ensure that youths have full access to the opportunities and resources provided by local and

international organizations.

3 To provide professional assistance to youths in selecting their career paths and outlining the steps required

to achieve them.

4 To enlighten youths about the power that lies within them in an effort to raise

their self-esteem, through personal development workshops. 

5 To act as a confidante to youths who seek trustworthy individuals to share with.

6 To seek financial assistance from governmental and non-governmental organizations for youths who are less fortunate.

7 To provide entrepreneurship training and support to young aspiring entrepreneurs to help them to grow and

develop their businesses
