YWOP/YMOP was awarded the UN-Habitat Urban Youth Fund Grant in 2012 to execute the Youth Entrepreneurship Project (YEP). The main objective of the project was to train fifty (50) youths in Manchester in Entrepreneurship and assist at least ten to start their businesses, through an incubation process providing financing, mentorship and guidance. The project was executed over a period of nine months (August 2013 – June 2014) and at the end of training, the individuals with the top ten most viable business ideas received grants of US$500 each to start their businesses. The training aspect of the project was conducted by theJamaica Business Development Commission (JBDC) who provided Business Management and Entrepreneurship Training to all participants. The project was divided into two stages: stage one approximately 46 participants received business training from the JBDC and 4 participants received their Business Developments grants to start/further develop their businesses. The 2nd phase of the project saw participants receiving mentorship from successful entrepreneurs and the remaining 10 of 14 grantees received their business development grants of USD$500 each. The project officially ended with an official closingceremony/graduation which also marked the 5th Anniversary of theorganization on 29th June 2014. The overall cost of the project is USD$19,000. All objectives of the project have been met to date.
